Make a Name For Yourself

 

Networking is one of the most powerful tools a financial advisor has. There are some key tricks of the trade that can help you network and build a large pool of potential insurance leads for your business.

 

First off, be an active part of the financial community. The internet has opened up a wide variety of options for the outspoken financial advisor. There are thousands of sites that allow people to contribute articles to their news pages. Try to get your opinions, tips, or suggestions published as many places as you can. And, don't forget about all your local newspapers. Even the free ones. The more extensively you are published, the more of an expert authority you become. Help the people in your community to get to know the real you.

 

Second, be active in your local community. Join your Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Jaycees, Church Groups, Knights of Columbus, Women's Club, PTA... and then participate! Offer to help them put out a monthly newsletter, with a financial section, by you. Help them to get press releases and write-ups about the organization into the local newspaper.

 

And, don't be afraid to volunteer to speak at meetings, conferences or seminars about the financial problems we are all facing today. Volunteer to help out at local and regional trade shows and local charity events. The more you open yourself up to potential contacts and the local media, the more you will find people turning to you for advice.

 

Third, join or create a networking group with local business to exchange contacts. There are many ways to network among the business crowd.  

 

The more people get to know you, the more they'll come to you for advice... and you'll have a prospect!
